Sichuan Collaboration Center for Early Gastric Carcinoma Screening Was Officially Established

CreateDate:2018-06-20

On November 24, 2015, “Sichuan Collaboration Center for National Early Gastric Carcinoma Screening Research Collaborative Network” was unveiled in Chengdu, and 19 Grade-A Tertiary Hospitals in Sichuan joined.

It is reported that China is a country with high incidence of gastric carcinoma. According to data from the World Health Organization in 2012, China has 400,000 new cases of gastric carcinoma and 350,000 deaths each year. New and death cases account for about 40% of the world’s total number. According to the fatality rate, gastric carcinoma in China ranks third among all cancers. The National Early Gastric Carcinoma Screening Program was a project of the National Science and Technology Support Program. It was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Health and Family Planning Commission, and the Ministry of Health of the General Logistics Department, and it has been launched nationwide. A total of 100 hospitals nationwide were included in the National Early Gastric Carcinoma Screening Research Collaborative Network.

According to Professor Chunhui Wang of Department of Gastroenterology, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, China is a country with high incidence of gastric carcinoma; due to the large population and uneven distribution of medical resources, the public lacks sufficient understanding of early gastric carcinoma screening. The discovery rate of early gastric carcinoma is about 15%, which is far below the international level. At present, early gastric carcinoma is mainly found in China through gastroscopy. However, the high cost of gastroscopy and the low tolerance of patients are not conducive to the massive early gastric carcinoma screening.

According to Professor Chunhui Wang, since the establishment of the Sichuan Collaboration Center for Early Gastric Carcinoma Screening, it had also conducted “big data” collection and analysis through population screening, promoted the GastroPanel® technology across the country, and further developed the early diagnosis and early treatment of gastric carcinoma in China. Relatively speaking, the patients often felt a bit uncomfortable when undergoing gastroscopy. As a national key discipline and a key specialty of the Ministry of Health, the Department of Gastroenterology, West China Hospital of Sichuan University has paid attention to the diagnosis and treatment of early gastric carcinoma for many years. The hospital develops GastroPanel® technology and detects the risk of gastric mucosal lesions by taking 2ml of venous blood from the test population. The accurate gastroscopy of the high-risk population detected by the screening will help improve the detection rate of early gastric carcinoma and promote the rational allocation of medical resources.

In winter, many people like to eat hot pots and soup pots, but hot foods stimulate gastrointestinal diseases. Weak alkaline, fresh vegetables and fruits have anti-cancer effects. Among them, bitter vegetables and yam are more prominent. Garlic also has a strong anti-cancer effect. Green tea, beans, milk, fungi, cauliflower, and black and white fungus are alkaline and can be appropriately ingested. In particular, drink less and smoke less. Take regular meals three times a day.
